Coach Pete began his mountain bike journey in 1992 at age 9 and began racing cross country as a junior in 1997 in addition to spending lots of time at the local bmx track and skate park. He began working with coach and founder of Training Peaks Dirk Friel in 1999 as he gained experience in the junior field and was coached by 2x olympic mountain biker Alison Dunlap during his collegiate cycling career at Colorado College from 2001-05. From 2006-09 he raced in the pro/open field before shifting his focus to single speed mountain biking and free ride/dirt jumping. He began his coaching career through NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) in 2016. Pete is certified with Training Peaks University and USA Cycling and coaches all aspects of mountain biking, from novices to expert riders, fundamental skills and basic fitness to riding double black diamond lines at the bike park, and formulating periodized long term training plans for expert and elite level competitors across all disciplines of the sport. He lives in Golden, Colorado with his partner. When not riding or coaching Pete enjoys rock climbing, highlining, telemark skiing, and puzzles.
Coaching, Training Plans, Lessons, Clinics, and Pricing
Explore the spectrum of options and find a plan that works for your budget. Lessons and clinics can range from a single day to a week. Training plans begin at 12 weeks – the first 4 of which are intake/onboarding, testing and analysis, lifestyle parameters, solving time limitations to design a program that fits around your other obligations, goal setting, and a 1-1 ride assessment together both at the start and end of the 4 week block. I do not produce generic training plans and try to avoid charging clients by the month. This reflects the Dirt Warrior’s Desiderata philosophy of building longevity in the sport and building a long term coach/athlete relationship. My belief is that progress happens steadily over seasons and there is no such thing as a miracle crash course or magic bullet that will suddenly transform your mountain biking abilities. My pricing is a reflection of the decades I have spent learning and honing my craft.
